RICHARD TODD plays a struggling writer whose arguments over money have estranged him from his wife (VALERIE HOBSON) and sent him into the arms of his editor’s wife (CHRISTINE NORDEN). The lovers decide to flee to London, but, on the train, Todd loses his nerve and pulls the emergency cord, jumping off the train at his home stop. Seconds later, a crash leaves Norden dead but railway detective TOM WALLS has evidence she was murdered before the crash and Todd becomes the chief suspect.
As the evidence mounts, Todd has one chance to prove his innocence in Daniel Birt’s thriller. Valerie Hobson’s role as the supportive wife stood her in good stead – she had to stand by her real life husband John Profumo during the infamous ’60s sex scandal.
